07 Feb 2012 - Blueridge General is awarded the Hiden Hussey Commons Addition

This $2.4 million project at Christopher Newport University consists of a 7,500 square foot addition to an existing cafeteria building.  The project is scheduled for completion in July of 2012.

03 Jan 2012 - Great Neck Middle School Opens to Students

Students at Great Neck Middle School will start 2012 in a new building.  The 220,000 square foot, $36 million Great Neck Middle School opens for students on January 3, 2012.  The remaining project work includes the demolition of the former building and the establishment of athletic fields in its place.

18 Nov 2011 - Erection of Tower Crane - Bldg 3, Naval Medical Center Portsmouth

During the week ending 18 November 2011, Blueridge General erected the tower crane for use on the Building 3 facade removal and replacement project at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth.  This Manitowoc MD485 crane is over 260 feet tall with another 260 plus feet of jib length. This crane will help facilitate the construction on this project for the next three years.  The crane is easily visible from both the Norfolk and Portsmouth Waterfront areas.

                   

15 Sept 2011 - Completion of Visitors Quarters - Langley Air Force Base

Blueridge General is proud to announce the completion of the Visitors Quarters at Langley Air Force Base.  This 115,000 square foot, four-story hotel-style building is LAFB's newest addition to a growing base community.  The total project value was in excess of $25 million.

                        

 

05 Apr 2011 - Blueridge General is awarded the construction of Indian River

                      High School Modernization, Phase 2

The Indian River High School Modernization, Phase 2 project has recently been awarded to Blueridge General, Inc.  This project for Chesapeake Public Schools features over 200,000 square feet of phased interior and exterior renovations, as well as the construction of four separate additions totaling over 50,000 square feet. This $26 million project features many similarities to Blueridge General's recently completed Western Branch High School project. 

Indian River is Blueridge General's sixth major project for Chesapeake Public Schools.  Past projects include: Greenbrier Middle School, Additions to Deep Creek High School, Additions and Renovations to Great Bridge High School, Additions and Renovations to Oscar Smith High School, and Additions and Renovations to Western Branch High School. 

The project, designed by Moseley Architects, is scheduled to begin April 11, 2011.

 

01 Mar 2011 - Award of DuPont Hall Structural (Facade Renovations), Phase 2

                      The College of William & Mary

Blueridge General has recently been awarded this Construction Manager (CM) project for the College of William & Mary.  The project features the selective removal and replacement of brick and limestone facade components on a three-story dormitory.  The project, to be completed over two summers, is valued at more than $1.5 million.  Construction is scheduled to begin in May 2011.

16 Feb 2011 - Completion of LN2 Pump Cover Project at NASA LaRC, Hampton

Construction of the LN2 Pump Cover project has just been completed. The project provided for the installation of a raised canopy system to protect NASA's LN2 Pump System at the Langley Research Center in Hampton.

                        

09 Feb 2011 - Award of Utility Trench Repair Project at NASA LaRC, Hampton

Blueridge General has been awarded the project to perform various repairs to the utility trench in Building 1148 at NASA Langley Research Center.  This project includes asbestos abatement, complex concrete demolition, the forming of new trench areas, and multiple utility piping removal and replacement.

 

03 Feb 2011 - Award of TMA-N17 Replace Roof and Repair Exterior Building,

                          Medical Admin Building - 3, Naval Medical Center - Portsmouth

Blueridge General, Inc. will be performing complex brick facade removal and replacement on this sprawling medical facility that includes both a 17-story and a 12-story tower section, with significant brick removal and replacement occurring over occupied lower building areas.  This $34 million project, scheduled to run for 36 months, will convert the existing building from a tan exterior to a pink exterior that matches the base's main hospital facility, Building 2. 

Blueridge General has been performing similar types of work for over 20 years throughout the region.  The award of this best-value trade-off solicitation is a testament to Blueridge's experience and knowledge with facade removal and replacement.

The original contract, awarded in June of 2010 was temporarily placed on hold due to a GAO protest; now resolved, the project will begin getting underway shortly.

20 Jan 2011 - Windsor Oaks Elementary Achieves LEED Silver Certification

The recently completed Windsor Oaks Elementary School in Virginia Beach has just been awarded LEED Silver Certification by the US Green Building Council.  Blueridge General, along with ACA Architects, Thompson Consulting Engineers, Site Improvement Associates, Sinclair, Pratt, and Cameron, and the Virginia Beach City Public Schools teamed to construct the school system's first LEED Silver project. 

 

Blueridge General is especially pleased to note that all 15 attempted construction credits were achieved on this project.
